Penn-Trafford School District alumni are complaining over a perceived racist video of an active shooter training exercise at the school.
KDKA-TV reports that the video, which was student-produced, was to be used as a training drill. The video was released on Facebook and showed the shooter was made to look like a Muslim by wrapping a scarf around his head.
A press release from the district said that the unofficial release of the video caused some people to question the district’s actions in the drill, and was not to represent any particular culture or religion with the shooters. The district said the full costumes consisted of wigs, neck scarfs, a paintball mask, a dark zip-up sweatshirt and dark pants.
In a statement, the district said that the video was not supposed to be released to the public.
