Eight Belle Vernon students who were originally cited and suspended for underage drinkng will be allowed to attend prom and graduation.
The Tribune-Review reports that on Thursday, the State’s Commonwealth Court issued the order late Thursday afternoon. The eight students were caught drinking at a Relay for Life event in Charleroi and were initially given 45-day suspensions that would keep them from taking part in prom and graduation.
The students said that the punishments did not follow the proper procedures. The judge also said that there was a question on whether the district had the right to punish students at a non-school event.
