Two Republican candidates running for county commissioner will remain on the ballot for the upcoming primary election after the State Supreme court on Tuesday declined to hear an appeal to a lower court ruling to remove them from the ballot.
The Trib reports that John Venture and Paul Kosko will be on the ballot. County Republican Committee Chairman Bill Bretz was looking to remove them, saying they did not file required financial interest statements with the election bureau and the chief clerk. Common Pleas Judge Jim Silvis ruled it was sufficient for candidates to file the just one statement with the election bureau, and that ruling was confirmed by Commonwealth Court.
Because of this decision, mail-in ballots will start to go out on Thursday.
