The Jeannette woman accused of faking her own disappearance may be responsible for paying for the search for her.
The Trib reports that 23-year-old Chloe Stein waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday. She is charged with misdemeanor counts of false alarm, false reports, obstruction and disorderly conduct. She was arrested May 2 after troopers said she hid for about 20 hours in her family’s detached garage while her loved ones and police searched after her car was found abandoned on a desolate stretch of a Hempfield road. She showed up at a neighbor’s house around 7:30 p.m. May 2 and claimed to have been abducted, but troopers said Stein later admitted to faking her disappearance. Her attorneys are negotiating a tentative agreement where she would enter a probationary program and pay over $11,000 worth of restitution.
The agreement needs to be approved by a judge.
