Smoke from the wildfires in Canada continues to affect the air quality in Western Pennsylvania.
The PA Department of Environmental Protection has once again issued a code orange air quality action alert for Westmoreland County and surrounding areas until 12:15 tomorrow morning. The Allegheny Health Department had reported At 6 p.m. Thursday in Greensburg, the air quality level was at 53, near the low end of the moderate range, according to AirNow.gov.
Forecasts indicated more smoke from the wildfires would move into the region Thursday evening into Friday.
The code orange means that sensitive populations, like the very young, the elderly, and those with lung and heart diseases, will be negatively impacted by the pollution. Experts say that those people should limit strenuous outdoor activity or exercise today.
