Murrysville Council has set a date for a public hearing to receive community input on an ordinance concerning injection wells.
The Trib reports that the council has been working with its planning and zoning office to develop the ordinance. injection wells are a legal land use that must be accommodated by communities with a zoning ordinance, according to Murrysville Community Development Director Jim Morrison. The proposed ordinance would permit injection wells in the business zoning district. The ordinance requires local groundwater testing in advance of operations to establish a baseline, and additional post-drilling testing.
The public hearing will be held 19th at the start of the council’s monthly meeting.
