Lawyers for Robert Bowers at the Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting trial have filed several motions seeking judicial orders that may help their cause.
WTAE-TV reports that one motion asks the judge to allow the jury to consider a charge of involuntary manslaughter rather than just first-degree murder. Bowers’ attorneys are also asking the judge to order prosecutors to immediately turn over detailed information from the government’s mental health evaluation.
The defense also said it wants the judge to review the government’s mental health exam and disclose any findings that could be favorable to the defense in the guilt phase of the trial.
