The New Kensington Bridge will close in mid-July, one year earlier than expected.
The Trib reports that the bridge will close for a six-week period starting July 17th, with July 24th as a backup date, according to PennDOT. Motorists also can expect the section of Freeport Road passing under the bridge to be closed and lane restrictions on Pittsburgh Street.
The closure is part of a $25 million restoration project. No word yet on why the project was moved up one year.
