Westmoreland County Commissioner Gina Cerilli Thrasher officially submitted her resignation on Thursday.
The Trib reports that Thrasher resigned so she can take a quasi-judicial position as a commissioner on the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, a position she was appointed to earlier this week. She starts her position in August.
While the 11 common pleas judges in the county will appoint the person who will take Thrasher’s place as Commissioner, she fully endorsed her chief of staff Donald O’Brien as her replacement to complete the final five months of her term. Her new job begins in August.
