Officials in Greensburg are considering eliminating off-street parking requirements for businesses in the downtown area as a way to spur development.
The Trib reports that a recent parking study found that full development of all downtown properties under the current rules including off-street parking would require 5800 spaces, which is not feasible at this time. But the study indicated there is more than ample parking downtown, finding that 24 off-street parking areas generally were only about half full at a peak hour of 10 a.m. on a weekday.
The planning commission will review the proposed changes on August 24th.
