EXPORT VFD CHIEF SAYS COST OF NEW FIRE TRUCK COULD RISE TO $1M

Export fire department says they are looking at close to a million dollar price tag for a new fire truck.

The Trib reports that the fire company received $545,000 in Federal Emergency Management Agency grant money, but the cost of a new truck is now between $800,000 and $900,000, along with an extra $60,000-$90,000 to implement new emissions standards. After that, it could take 3 to 4 years for the truck to be fully outfitted and delivered. By comparison, the last time a truck was purchased in 1994, it cost $200,000.
