Police are asking drivers to be aware of motorcyclists as part of a recent enforcement effort.
The Trib reports that according to the Highway Safety Network, there are about 850,000 licensed motorcycles in the state, Motorcycles were involved in 19.5 percent of crashes statewide in 2022, which was a six percent decrease from 2021, according to PennDOT data. There were 213 motorcycle crashes that involved a fatality in 2022, compared to 223 in 2021.
Drivers are reminded to be aware of motorcycles, and motorcyclists are advised to keep themselves safe with proper clothing, helmets and eye protection.
