Two Westmoreland County probation officers were hurt on Wednesday after an incident involving a man who they say violated his probation.
The Trib reports that the officers reported to Greensburg police that they went to an apartment on Harrison Avenue as 39-year-old Akeem Vance reportedly tested positive for alcohol, cocaine and marijuana and informed him that he was in violation of his probation, and police say he also had a handgun illegally. The three got into a scuffle as the officers tried to arrest Vance, police said.
One of the officers had red marks around his neck and throat and the other’s forearm was bleeding, according to court papers. Vance was denied bail during arraignment Thursday and was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 17.
