A charity motorcycle ride in memory of Officer Bryan Shaw is expected to become one of the biggest charity rides this year.
The Trib reports that more than 800 riders are expected to take part in Saturday’s ride starting at the Shrine Center in Harmar at 10 AM. Proceeds benefit the Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides two $6,000 scholarships to cadets attending the Allegheny County Police Academy. Shaw, a lifelong resident of Lower Burrell, was killed during a 2017 traffic stop.
This year’s 75-mile route will travel from Harmar to Route 28, through Freeport, Ford City, Vandergrift, Lower Burrell, New Kensington and back to the Shrine Center. Day-of registration costs $40 per rider and $20 per passenger.
