A Delmont woman who works as a veterinary technician is charged with illegally filling prescriptions for Xanax.
The Trib reports that the prescriptions 38-year-old Bobbi Jo Vaia allegedly filled were for her dog, but this was done four months after it had been euthanized. State Attorney General’s agents Investigators said they learned Vaia’s dog was legitimately prescribed the anti-anxiety medication in March, about a month before the canine was euthanized, with five refills for a total of 1,500 pills. The prescription was filled five times between April and Aug. 17, all of which were after the dog’s death, according to court papers.
Vaia was arrested Friday on charges of identity theft, acquisition by misrepresentation and related offenses. A preliminary hearing is set for October 10th. She is free on $50,000 bail.
