A Westmoreland County judge will decide whether or not a Jeannette teenager arrested in connection with a 2021 shooting will be tried as an adult or as a juvenile.
The Trib reports that Daesan Ingram was 16 at the time of the shooting of a 17-year-old at the intersection of Locust Street and Lowry Avenue in April of 2021. A defense expert says Ingram should be tried as a juvenile, meaning that if he is sentenced, he would be released when he turns 21 in 2025. The prosecution believes that will not be enough time for him to be rehabilitated properly.
No word on when the judge will make that decision.
