You may notice your phone going off at 2:20 this afternoon with a special alarm. This is part of a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts today.
The WEA portion of the test will be directed to all cell phones across the United States. The test message will display either in English or Spanish, depending on the language settings on the device. This will mark the third nationwide cell phone alert test.
The purpose of the test is to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level.
