A Clairton man remains in Westmoreland County Jail charged with attempted homicide and other crimes for shooting a Monroeville police officer during a chase that ended in Allegheny Township on Friday.
The Trib reports that 38-year-old Bruce Alvarado led multiple police departments on a chase Friday evening from Turtle Creek before being boxed up at the Roundabout on Route 356 near Hyde Park. When police approached the vehicle, Alvarado fired shots into a Monroeville police cruiser, hitting the officer inside it multiple times in the arm and leg. Officials say he was wanted for stealing his ex-girlfriend’s Jeep.
The officer who was injured is now home and recovering.
