The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the woman who was found dead in a pond in New Stanton last week.
The Trib reports that 34-year-old Kele Diane Townshend was found floating in the water off Broadview Road on November 6th. Coroner Tim Carson said the death is not believed to be suspicious. Authorities took time to make sure that the identity was correct before releasing the information. That included an unsuccessful attempt to get fingerprints and deputy Sean Hribal examining medical records, tattoos on her body, her teeth compared to photographs and jewelry Townsend was wearing at the time.
The investigation into her death continues.
