A raid on a home in New Kensington resulted in the seizure of illegal guns and drugs.
The Trib reports that SWAT team members joined local and county detectives in the arrest of 28-year-old Demetres Beck of New Ken Manor. The raid began shortly after 6 a.m. on Nov. 2 when police used a PA system to announce they had a search warrant. They broke through the door when nobody answered and arrested Beck, the complaint said. Police found a 2-year-old child sleeping in a bedroom and called the child’s grandmother to pick them up. Two guns and suspected powdered cocaine were found.
Beck was being detained in the Westmoreland County jail after a judge ruled he is a flight risk. He faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 18.
