The Pennsylvania Game Commission is investigating after a deer hunter was shot in Westmoreland County last week.
The incident happened around 5:00 p.m. in an area off of State Hill Road in South Huntingdon Township. Officials say one hunter mistook another for a coyote and fired a shot from several hundred yards away, hitting the man in the shoulder.
Hunters are able to legally take a coyote during any big game season or if they have a fur-taker license, according to the game commission.
