A man accused in last week’s shooting of a Monroeville police sergeant is expected to appear in court today.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 32-year-old Jamal Brooks of Aliquippa. Reports say the sergeant was investigating the armed robbery of a cookie store in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center last Wednesday night and searching for the suspect. When they met up with Brooks, the suspect reportedly fired sixteen shots with three hitting the sergeant.
The officer was taken from the scene in stable condition and there has been no update on their status.
