Several roads were closed due to flooding in the Ligonier area yesterday due to the heavy storms that rolled through.
The Trib reports that the first call for the day came at 4:30 for a flooded vehicle in the area of Route 381 in Ligonier Township, where crews had to rescue someone trapped by the flood water. Portions of Route 711, Nature Run Road, Ross Mountain Park Road were also closed due to flood. Also, several outages were reported throughout the day, with First Energy saying over 8000 people were without power at the peak of the storms.
High winds were also responsible for the downing of three utility poles in East Huntingdon, and downed lines sparked a fire in the attic of a home next door to Smillie’s Family Restaurant. Firefighters were able to limit the damage to the roof of the building.
