A New Kensington man celebrated his 100th birthday last week.
The Trib reports that on Thursday, Dan Hawkins reached the 100-year milestone and celebrated with friends and family. A World War II Army veteran, Hawkins was the first Black teacher at Valley High School, where he worked for 30 years.
He also coached football and baseball and was inducted into the Alle-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame He says he credits God and his family for reaching the age of 100.
