Proposals were exchanged between Westmoreland County and the union representing some of its employees.
The Trib reports that SEIU Local 668 and Healthcare PA and the county exchanged what each called their “last offer” through a mediator. Union officials say no face-to-face negotiations have taken place since the union notified the county last week of their intent to strike on February 2nd without an agreement in place on a new labor deal.
The issue of wages has been the primary sticking point in negotiations as the union is seeking raises in line with the 17 percent pay hikes commissioners and other county elected officials have received over the last three years. Union members received annual pay raises of about 2 percent under terms of the recently expired labor contract.
