WESTMORELAND COUNTY EMPLOYEES RATIFY NEW UNION CONTRACT

Over 500 westmoreland county employees ratified a new union contract with the county on Monday.  The Trib reports that the new contract with SEIU Local 668 and Healthcare PA was overwhelmingly approved by the rank and file membership of the union.  The contract includes an overall 17% pay raise over the three years of the contract.  With the signing of the new contract, a strike by the union has been averted.  Commissioners will formally approve the contract at their meeting on February 8th.
