PennDOT announced some details on an upcoming project to replace the historic Salina Bridge that connects Bell and Kiski townships. The Trib reports that the apparent low bidder was Mekis Construction of Fennelton. The $33 million project will include additional work such as addressing a deteriorating nearby retaining wall, drainage improvements and upgrades at intersections. The new bridge will be built about 100 feet away from the existing span that carries Bridge Street over the Kiski River and Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks. The project is expected to be complete in 2027, though traffic will be able to use the new bridge before that.
