Westmoreland County Commissioners approved pay raises for union and non-union employees at a meeting Thursday. The Trib reports that the raises for the union employees were part of a union contract that was ratified with the SEIU. County leaders also approved 3% raises for nearly 400 nonunion workers.
Commissioners Sean Kertes and Doug Chew defended the nonunion raises as a means to even out pay discrepancies among county workers. The raises are expected to cost taxpayers an additional $2.7 million in 2024.
