OFFICIALS LOOKING TO STOP MONROEVILLE CONVENTION CENTER CLOSURE

Local officials are looking to stop the closure of the Monroeville Convention Center. KDKA-TV reports municipal leaders want to have the property appraised and may try to get bonds or investors together in order to try and buy it. Owners Oxford Development have announced plans to shut down the facility and lease half of the property to Hobby Lobby. The Visit Monroeville board chair and the local mayor have signed a letter that says closing the convention center would be devastating to the area’s tourism economy, according to KDKA.
