U.S. Senator Bob Casey is hoping a new law will help federal and local law enforcement disrupt the fentanyl supply chain in Western Pennsylvania. The senator met with Allegheny County Police and some area families who have lost loved ones to the powerful opioid yesterday as he highlighted the FEND Off Fentanyl Act. Casey says the measure would allow officials to target the financial assets of criminal organizations and support police departments as they go after higher-level drug suppliers. The legislation has been passed by the U.S. Senate but it still needs to make its way through the House.
