People who were impacted by the delays with the Register of Wills office could be called as witnesses at a hearing next month. The Trib reports that according to a new court order filed Wednesday, Sherry Hamilton will go before two county judges to determine if she violated court orders to require her office meet specific deadlines to complete overdue work as part of a consolidated hearing on March 14th, and alleged victims are asked to register with Silvis’ staff to make statements at the hearing to explain how they were impacted by the delays. The court’s intervention came following a series of allegations that work in the courthouse record keeping office responsible for wills and estates, adoptions and marriage licenses was not being promptly completed. Hamilton blamed work delays on staff shortages and issues of insubordination and disloyalty from employees.
