Penn-Trafford School District is helping people in need with an ongoing food assistance program. Students in struggling families get to take home meals and snacks every two weeks through the Backpacks-to-go initiative. Recently, eighth-graders Jillian Rettger, Ashley Hetrick, and Gabby Geary supported the program as the community service project for their upcoming confirmation at Saint Barbara’s Catholic Church. They collected ten boxes of food and 850 dollars in cash contributions from shoppers at the Penn Township Giant Eagle.
