Westmoreland County officials have started to test their voting machines in advance of the April 23rd primary election. The Trib reports that officials are testing the machines by casting 19,000 test ballots and counting them to ensure the accuracy of those machines. This process is expected to take a week, and if things are accurate, the machines will be ready to go. In addition to testing the accuracy of the county’s nearly 900 voting machines, the tests also will determine whether the software on the touch-screen computers works properly and recognize if too many or too few votes get cast on each ballot. People can watch the process at the county elections warehouse in Greensburg.
