Westmoreland County officials say they no longer want to be referred to as a sanctuary county for undocumented immigrants. The Trib reports that the Center for Immigration Studies declared the county a sanctuary county in 2014, with the group saying that the county, in their words, obstructs immigration enforcement and shields criminals. Westmoreland County Commissioner Doug Chew said that the county prison board considering a proposal to formalize a standard operating procedure of notifying US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement when an undocumented immigrant is being held at the county jail.
