A creek in Sewickley Township may be carrying pollutants from a hazardous waste facility and storage site just off the water. The Trib reports that Sewickley Creek now has some signs up from the Mountain Watershed Association warning of the potential wastewater pollution from the MAX Environmental Technologies landfill going into the creek The signs, posted on private property, state that the stream may be polluted with arsenic, cyanide, hexavelent chromium and more substances. MAX Environmental officials have not commented on the signs but said the pollutants permitted in the landfill’s discharge are no different than other similar landfills.
