Mt. Pleasant School Board approved a preliminary budget on Wednesday that includes a three-mil tax increase. The Trib reports that the budget tops out at $38.8 million and the needed three mill tax increase is a worst-case scenario. Business manager J.R. Dzurica noted at Wednesday’s school board meeting that several factors affecting next year’s district finances remained to be determined, including what the state budget will contribute. The budget will be brought forward for final approval on June 26th, and they hope to trim any tax increases by then.
