The former Ligonier Valley police chief is now facing charges of sexual assault. The Trib reports that 52-year-old John Berger of Ligonier Borough is accused of sexually assaulting a patient at a Donegal Township addiction recovery center. He was working there after he was fired as police chief when a raid was conducted on the department by Homeland Security officials. The female accuser said that Berger made unwanted sexual advances while both were patients there, and then later she returned and found him working there. He is now in jail on $100,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is set for May 17th.
