Oakmont teacher Marc Fogel seems to be distraught as he remains imprisoned in Russia. In a recording of a phone call with Fogel that his family shared with the Trib over the weekend, he said it was “incomprehensible” that he was left out of a prisoner exchange between the U.S., Russia, and other nations last week. He has been incarcerated in a penal colony since August of 2021 after getting stopped at a Moscow airport with a little over half-an-ounce of medical marijuana. State Department officials and President Biden have said they are still working to get Fogel returned to the U.S., but they have not shared any specifics.
