An Allegheny Township man is facing charges of cruelty to animals with police saying he went out of town for an extended period of time leaving his dogs at home without proper care. A neighbor contacted police in May saying that dogs had been abandoned inside the residence and that no one had been seen coming or going in two weeks. When contacted by authorities, 40-year-old Matthew Brueggman reportedly told an officer that he was traveling for work and that the person he had arranged to care for the animals had canceled. Officers report the dogs had no access to food or water and they arranged for an animal rescue to take them.
