Commissioners in Westmoreland County are extending the residency requirement waiver for government employees. Rules requiring workers to live in the county were first suspended for all employees in 2022 and the new measure maintains that suspension for another year. Commissioner Sean Kertes says getting rid of the provision has helped fill more open positions with qualified candidates. The officials have said permanently removing the residency stipulation could ultimately be beneficial when it comes to attracting more residents.
