The Central Westmoreland Career and Technology School in New Stanton had to be evacuated yesterday due to a natural gas sensor alert. The Trib reports that two teachers reported to school officials higher than normal gas levels. As a precaution, kids and staff were evacuated in a routine drill. Columbia Gas Crews were called in to shut off the gas valves and check everything. While six students were taken to the hospital for evaluation, no one was seriously affected.
