Two former Westmoreland County nurses are accused of taking and sharing inappropriate pictures of patients and recording patients without their consent. The Trib reports that 36-year-old Peter Castellano of Pittsburgh and 36-year-old Melissa Tompkins of Baldwin were fired by Independence Health System after an employee reported their alleged actions, according to a statement from the hospital group. Greensburg Police last month learned of a group text message between two nurses and two techs at the Greensburg hospital that indicated the suspects improperly treated patients, according to court papers. Investigators said messages obtained by police showed audio and video recordings and images of patients were sent in the thread from numbers belonging to Castellano and Tompkins. Police said the other two people involved in the messaging thread will not be facing charges. The two nurses deny any wrongdoing. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.
