A Sewickley Township woman is suing Allegheny Health Network for using the wrong medicine on her for anesthesia. The Trib reports that in January, Audrey Lindsey went to the Forbes hospital in Monroeville for back surgery, but doctors informed her family that instead of using methocarbamol, a muscle relaxant, they used methadone. Doses of Narcan did not reverse the effects, and she had to be placed on a ventilator. After she was able to breathe on her own, she her vocal cords were damaged, her breathing was impaired and she suffered memory loss, headaches and brain damage. Lindsey is seeking a jury trial and damages. The lawsuit names AHN, the hospital, the anesthesiologist and a nurse anesthetist.
