TRIAL OF LATROBE MAN GETS UNDERWAY

The trial of a Latrobe man accused of selling the drugs that caused a fatal overdose in January of 2021 got underway yesterday.  The Trib reports that 31-year-old Zachary Dunlap is charged with selling the drugs that eventually killed 39-year-old Robert Verscharen.  Prosecutors contend he provided a heroin and fentanyl mixture stamped with a red image of the horror film character “Chucky” that Verscharen consumed before his death.  Dunlap’s attorney claims that Verscharen had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, and it would be impossible to tell which one killed him.  The trial is expected to continue today.
