Three men from New York City are charged with trying to get $18,000 from a North Huntingdon couple and receiving $20,000 from a Pittsburgh woman through a bail scam. The Trib reports that North Huntingdon Township Police charged 36-year-old Alfonso Camareno, 31-year-old Jason Alvarez and 24-year-old Jean Mendoza with corrupt organizations, conspiracy, theft and other crimes. The North Huntingdon couple were told that their grandson was being held by Greensburg police on drug charges, but realized it was fake and called police. Officers were also called to their property for a trespasser and took Mendoza and Alvarez into custody. Charges in the trespassing case are pending. Township police continued to investigate and learned that the suspects may have been involved in similar incidents in Illinois and Rhode Island. Camareno is currently at large and a warrant is out for his arrest.
