Local officials in Upper Burrell Township are taking steps to help expand high-speed internet access in the area. Township supervisors are planning to draft a resolution to request the “Broadband Ready Community” designation from the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. The title is intended to show service providers that a municipality has made an effort to review policies that might slow down the work needed to upgrade internet infrastructure. Supervisor Ross Walker says about 15 percent of the township currently does not have access to high-speed internet service.
