The bridge carrying William Penn Highway over Turtle Creek in Murrysville will close next week for repairs. The Trib reports that the closure will start October 14th. The work is expected to bring the temporary weight limit back up to sixteen tons. The weight rating reductions were the result of periodic inspections by Pittsburgh-based SAI Engineering, contracted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The weight reduction to 6 tons primarily affects school buses, large truck traffic and fire trucks. A two-mile detour will be posted. The work is expected to take 45 days to complete.
