The Burrell School Board is scheduled to vote on the future of Stewart Elementary this evening. A proposal to close the building is going before the board at tonight’s meeting, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Superintendent Shannon Wagner says with declining enrollment and aging properties, it makes more financial sense to shutter Stewart and focus on improvements at the district’s remaining three schools. The board meeting is being held at the high school on Puckety Church Road.
