HAY STILL SMOLDERING AFTER WESTMORELAND EQUESTRIAN CENTER FIRE

Hay continues to smolder a few days after a fire at the Westmoreland Equestrian Center in Hempfield.  The Trib reports that the smoke from the smoldering hay is causing some problems for people with respiratory issues.  Township fire officials say they are monitoring the hay. The property owner said that once his insurance carrier completes its fire investigation, he will be free to try new tactics to quell the smoldering.  Firefighters have returned to the site at least once for a rekindle.
