The Westmoreland County Republican Commissioners rejected a plan to have a mail-in ballot drop box installed in the lobby prior to Election Day. The Trib reports Commissioners Doug Chew and Sean Kertes declined to consider a proposal to allow voters to drop off ballots without having to walk through courthouse security. Chew had proposed that instead of a dropbox, a staffer would accept the ballots at the rear entrance, but that proposal was withdrawn by Chew at Yesterday’s meeting. Voters can return ballots through the mail or hand them to staff in the election bureau’s first-floor courthouse office. Mail-in ballots must be returned to the courthouse by 8 p.m. Nov. 5 to be counted.
